SYSK Gets Weird Playlist: The Max Headroom Incident

In 1987, a bizarre broadcast intrusion interrupted Chicago television during a Dr. Who episode. The hijacked signal featured the character Max Headroom, who delivered garbled speech, brandished a marital aid, and was spanked with a fly swatter by someone dressed as Annie Oakley. The incident lasted only a couple of minutes but remains one of the strangest unsolved signal intrusions in TV history.
